Branded Short Links: A Practical Guide

Branded short links boost trust and click-through rates. Here's how to set up a custom domain, structure slugs, and measure the lift.

A branded short link replaces the generic shortener domain with your own — for example go.brand.com/launch instead of bit.ly/3xK91p. Branded links consistently outperform generic ones on click-through rate because they signal trust.

Setting up a custom domain on Kliqo

1. Open Settings → Domains and add your subdomain (e.g. `go.brand.com`).

2. Add the CNAME record shown in your DNS.

3. Kliqo verifies the domain and issues SSL automatically.

4. Choose the domain when creating new links.

Slug conventions

  • Use short, lowercase, memorable slugs: `/launch`, `/pricing`, `/q3-report`.
  • Avoid random hashes for marketing links — they kill memorability.
  • Reserve a flat namespace per campaign: `/sale-bf`, `/sale-cm`.

Measuring the lift

Run an A/B for two weeks: half your channels use the branded domain, half use a generic shortener. Compare click-through rate by source. In practice we see 20–35% uplift on email and Twitter.
